FCA WRESTLING

Fiscal-Year-End Report

September 1, 2020 – August 31, 2021

In 1954, God gave Oklahoma basketball coach Don McClanen a vision of coaches and athletes impacting lives for Christ. This stirring led to the founding of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Now, 67 years later, this same vision—to make Christ’s name known through the vehicle of sports—is still being fulfilled and FCA has become one of the largest Christian sports organizations worldwide.

In 2008, FCA Wrestling (FCAW) was officially launched as a sport-specific ministry of FCA focused solely on reaching those in the wrestling community. The commonality of wrestling allowed FCAW staff to build strong relationships that have opened doors to engage, equip, and empower coaches and wrestlers to impact their world for Christ. Carl Perry has served as the Director of FCA Wrestling from 2011 to the present.

A Message from FCAW Director Carl Perry

First off, thank you for your support and faithfulness in partnering with this ministry. God is doing some great things through your giving. Whether it be financially. prayerfully, or with your time and service to FCAW, we are so very grateful for the impact of your involvement.

The beginning of the past fiscal year—with COVID restrictions still in place—continued to present its challenges. But where there is passion, there is a way. Our team perfected the “how to” in reaching the wrestling community with everything from virtual huddles to online Bible studies to coaches webinars to Facebook Live events. We also used this time to focus on some exciting new resources. Two of those included another wrestling devotional and our dynamic new resource Truth & Technique (see more on these resources below). When the restrictions lifted and the doors began to open for live events, it was “go time.” Wrestling camps were filled. Relationships we had built resumed. And God gave us renewed energy and focus.

God continues to amaze me with how He works through all our circumstances. My response can only be one of humility, thankfulness, and excitement for what lies ahead as we press on to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and wrestlers. It’s BECAUSE of His glory and FOR His glory that we serve. If you haven’t yet got involved, we would love to have you on our team.  Contact me to find out more. Thanks and God bless.

You can be a great leader who has influence on people, moving them in a certain direction and instilling values, but if you want to be a mentor leader there is a whole other depth. We need to be transformative coaches. We need to be changing and drawing hearts to Christ.”

– Coach

What We Do

We equip wrestling coaches and wrestlers to grow stronger in their personal and spiritual lives.

Why We Do It

“Being a wrestler for many years, I still have a passion for the sport of wrestling. I love the sport and love Christ. The combination of these two loves is what drew me to FCA Wrestling. Now that I have been on the Board for several years, I am more enthused than ever since FCA Wrestling has grown considerably and is continuing to change the world for Christ.”
